After Care For Your New Piercing
After Care for Non-Mouth Piercings:
*This includes lips, such as labrets, monroes,
medusas, etc.*
Choose a mild, pH balanced cleanser, like a castile, glycerin soap –
Crazy Chameleon makes great soaps, in two formulas.
After Care: Use a mild, PH–balanced soap, preferably one without
moisturizers or chemicals. Glycerin, Oatmeal (like Crazy Chameleon Bar Soap,
with Lavender, Teatree, and Oatmeal), and Castile based (like Chameleon
Liquid Soap with Lavender and Teatree) soaps do very well.
Cleanse your hand thoroughly before cleaning or touching your
piercing.
Twice daily, using a q-tip or finger, clean your piercing with your
choice of soap on both ends of the hole. Work the soap inside the hole by
sliding the jewelry back and forth in the hole. Rinse well with lots of warm
water. Also, use saline solution, or sea salt and water, to help sooth and
heal the piercing.
Saline or Sea Salt Soaks: Soaking your piercing for several
minutes daily speeds healing and makes you much more comfortable.
Ratio of Sea Salt in Water: 1/4 Teaspoon Sea Salt mixed well in 1 Cup
Water. Increase or decrease ratio as needed.
DO NOT USE:
Rubbing Alcohol, Hydrogen Peroxide, Triple – Antibiotic Ointment, Ear Care
Solutions, Lotions, or Moisturizers. We are also recommending that you limit
your use of antibacterial soaps, as they can irritate your new piercing.
DO NOT use hot tubs or whirlpool baths.
DO NOT apply gauze or bandages to your new body piercing.
DO NOT use chlorinated pools for at least 2 weeks after getting a
piercing. (Once the edges of the piercing scab over, then go swimming).
